Katmai National Park Alaska

Katmai National Park and Preserve is on a peninsula in southern Alaska. The park is known for the many brown bears that are drawn to the abundant salmon in Brooks Falls.

Then taking a float plane to the sanctuary.

Arrived at the Katmai Land

All visitors must stop by the Brooks Camp Visitor Center to get their bear orientation with rangers. Everyone will learn proper etiquette to live more harmoniously with bears, an integral part of having a good time at Brooks Camp.  learning how to live in this bear’s territory such as what to do if you see a bear in short distance, no foods…..etc.

Yes, I am so glad they educated me😭

🧸

Left all the luggage in the cabin, and grabbed the camera,

I went looking for bears by myself…..🐻💕

I was humming♬, thinking like “Cute Bears, where are you?”

And then, I had a magnificent experience.

🐻Magic Moment 🐻

I saw beautiful calm water up a head, so I stared to walk toward the beach. There are bushes and trees all over, but there is wide path.

Two Italian guys were walking to the same direction as well, they were not so far from me….

It was very quiet, and I only hear the Italian guys talking….

😌

🥾

🐾

🌲

then….

😱

IMG_2839

This Bear popped up from the bush suddenly.

(I would say it was only like 30m /98ft from me and Italian guys)

IMG_2834

😱

A good size one… he definitely looked at ME and, and….

IMG_2839

He started to come toward where I was 😱 😱

😱

🐻

😱

Two Italian guys and Me, we all kept face to the bear, slightly bending our knees, staying lower, raising our hands and slowly stepping backward….. as we just learned at the ranger center 15min ago.

🐻

“Hey bear, you are the boss. I am just visiting your place…  I will give you way…. so please take it easy “

(🐻😱💓my heart rate was probably about 150.)

Just like that,

“BE HUMBLE to the bear”

that’s what we’ve just learned. (by the way, it’s nonsense pretending to be “dead” also a bad idea climbing a tree, the bears are such a great tree climbers

😱

And then, those 2 Italian guys started to talk something fast and next moment, they just showed the bear their back and ran away so quickly😂‼️

🐻

。。。。

then

just me and bear….I kept humbly stepping back as I took pictures.

When I met a Black Bear accidentally so closed at the Kenai, it was like happy feeling was 99% & fear was 1%

In this time,

the mixture of fear and excitement. I really freeze this moment.

this brown bear, there are differences to the black bear. First of all, he🐻 and I, both looked at our eyes each other already, and he keeps looking at my camera lens, was bigger than black bear. It was like my fear was 90% and happiness was 10%… but because of this 10% I had, I was able to take these precious pictures 😍

☕️🫖🍪

Since I was too exited from very beginning, I went back to the lodge to have a cup of tea for calming down myself…. I started to walk to the lodge,,,

😱OMG even here !!!

The another one 😂

🥾

🐟

At this moment, I haven’t even been the famous bear salmon hunting viewing spot yet but I guess this place is just so normal to see the bears around.

This place seems far wilder and crazier than I thought, and I do love it.😍

Brooks Falls, the world’s most celebrated destination to view Alaskan brown bears in their natural habitat.

About 1km from the Brooks Lodge where bears hang around,

There is the world famous bear viewing spot where you can see Alaskan brown bears are positioning for salmon trying to ascend the small water falls.

  1. Absolutely amazing pictures though the Grammar Police will wonder why you were not arrested for the atrocious punctuation and syntactical errors! I just reported in and explained it’s a very old blog and past the “statue of limitations.” Not sure if the Grammar Police know where this statue is, so you’re safe. 😂
And congrats on your endurance and improvements! But you really should see a plastic surgeon about that yellow face! 😁

  3. This is almost the opposite of your home life; except for the water.. Hahah.
I doubt I could have kept my cool as you did. I think I would have been running with the Italian guys! But, what a fabulous holiday; your images are so good – as is the video (I doubt there would have been much left for the birds).
Congrats on your follower numbers growing. You deserve it.

awww thank you so much for your positive words. It means a lot to me.🙏

      Hawaii – Alaska…
as you said, its opposite. But also so many things are mutual that I realized when I was there….wild life, beautiful nature, native people’s culture….etc
Also I found out super cool connection between AK and HI…
🐋The Humpback whales spend winter in Hawaii and Sumer in Alaska🐋
Also so many online shopping company in US have “Free-shipping” service, right?
But they always said…”Continental US only” “Except AK and HI” like that 😆😭

Thank you so much for always supporting my page.
Hope you have a wonderful early Autumn season. Happy March to you,

  10. Scary! I don’t know if you were using a camera or your phone, but I’ve heard that a camera lens looks like a big staring eye to animals, and can be taken as being aggressive. Glad it was all okay in the end 🙂
